One Lung Course – POSTPONED TO 11th of September

    11th September 2020 at 8.30 am
    Duration – All Day

One Lung is a simulation and practical skills course in thoracics, specifically designed for anaesthetists, surgeons and anaesthetic assistants wishing to learn about lung isolation, single lung ventilation and the management of common thoracic anaesthetic emergencies.
The course has been designed by a group of thoracic experts from across the UK and has been running at UCLH for the lat two years.
We split the day into two parts: in the morning, we hold skills workshops to learn techniques and knowledge for lung isolation.
    Morning:
    – Lectures by multidisciplinary expert faculty:
    Surgery and Lung Isolation
    Lung Isolation techniques
Physiology and Management of Hypoxia during One Lung Ventilation
    – Workshops:
    Left and right-sided tubes
    Vivasight systems
    ORSIM Bronchoscopy simulation
    Bronchial Blockers
    Chest Drain insertion and management
    Ultrasound-guided paravertebral blocks
Afternoon: four simulated scenarios to practise strategies for clinical anaesthesia. This integrates the skills, knowledge and human factors required for management of patients.
All the techniques and scenarios are evidenced-based and peer-reviewed.
    Testimonials:
What an excellent day! Thank you to everyone for giving up their time to share their knowledge and experience with us. The stations felt relevant to my daily practice and the simulation really brought the skills together nicely.
A fantastic update day – many thanks to all faculty. Will be recommending the course to consultant & senior trainee colleagues.
Excellent course and very approachable and friendly faculty. Would highly recommend!
Great to have mixed faculty – surgical presence especially beneficial.
