The opportunity is for a senior SpR/StRs to work in the office of the Director of Medical and Dental Education (DMDE).
This is a 1 year secondment, working primarily for Dr. Fiona Moss, London Director of Medical and Dental Education (DMDE) from her NHS London and the London Deanery, providing support in devising an outcomes-based approach to the development of medical and dental education in London, with particular emphasis on the impact of education on quality improvement and patient safety.
Responsible for initiating, developing and delivering a range of policy analysis and research projects, they will also focus on medical and dental education health policy and the specific requirements and implications for healthcare and education in London.
This is an enviable opportunity for a senior SpR/StR in a London training programme to spend a year ‘out of programme’ and contribute to exciting developments in postgraduate medical education in London. They will be passionate about their speciality and about improving the quality and safety of patient care and will understand that organisational change is essential for significant improvements in both training and service. They are someone who wants to develop your interest in health policy and are eager to shape health services so that they are better able to meet the health needs of Londoners. they are someone who has an interest in education and training.
In this ‘out-of-programme’ year they will undertake a strategic development project and make a significant contribution to the success of the DMDE Office. They will take part in the support programme provided for the Darzi Fellows in Clinical Leadership (accredited by the King’s Fund in partnership with the University of Manchester for a Postgraduate Certificate in Management and with the opportunity to put course credits towards an MBA at the University of Manchester) resulting in a Postgraduate Certificate and will also be encouraged to maintain a clinical commitment of no more than three sessions per week.
