Dear CT/ST 1 - 3 Trainees

It has become clear with the advent of MMC and the CT and ST training grades that anaesthetic trainees are reaching their Obstetric modules slightly earlier and with less experience than in the past.

As a general observation from both trainees and consultants, trainees are commencing their solo on calls with far more worries and concerns than perhaps in past years

This survey is aimed at all CT or ST 1/2 and ST 3 grade trainees covering Labour ward solo.

All of the questions in the survey were selected by speaking to many trainees from new OBS trainees to senior OBS fellows and finding out what their real areas of worry were before going solo on call beyond that of just the emergencies

The aim is to highlight the wide areas of worry that trainees really have on commencing OBS solo on call that often may not be addressed in induction and in teaching/training during the supervised period.

Results will be used to inform the new curriculum and as a tool to provide further training/education in these areas for new OBS trainees during the supervised period......and indeed beyond
The survey can be accessed by clicking or copy/pasting the link below:

Thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated
