The Zambia Anaesthetic Development Project (ZADP) commenced in 2012 to support the training of Zambian anaesthetists.

A third of all disease requires some surgical intervention and safe surgery clearly requires safe anaesthesia. Unfortunately, Zambia suffers from an extreme lack of anaesthetists. There are currently 30 anaesthetic doctors for a country of 14 million people. This shortage results in an unacceptable number of deaths due to lack of access to safe surgery.

At any one time there are 4-6 international anaesthetists volunteering with ZADP providing clinical teaching and guiding quality improvement. Our current funding source ends in May. We need your support to continue this valuable work.
